Baghdad. Twenty nine alleged prostitutes plus the girls’ pimp and one of his henchmen were executed in a raid on a brothel in the residential district of Zayouna. This area is known for renting out flats to pimps who can sometimes have up to sixty women working for them at a time. Many security officers in the area are easily bribed into “looking the other way”. The pimp, identified only as Aws and his henchman both had their hands tied behind their backs before they were executed. Some women huddled vainly in the bathroom to escape their killers while others were cornered in a main room and slaughtered, the floor soaking up the blood. Authorities still have not named who they think is responsible for this brutal attack. An inscription put above the door of one of the two buildings targeted in the raid says:
This is the fate of all prostitution
Apparently, this sort of thing is not all that uncommon as their are many militant religious groups active in the area. Although I have read that this is definitely one of the worst in quite some time. The one thing that stands out the most to me is just how young some of these women look. I would not be surprised at all if some were underage (by Western standards). Interestingly, in places like Mexico and Thailand and the Middle East, underage prostitution is common and more often than not many women of third world nations are forced into prostitution under penalty of death. Either they are kidnapped, or their parents are in debt to the wrong people and sell their own offspring to monsters. A little different from the West. Now, before you pop a blood vessel, I know there are many cases in the First World of women and young girls being forced into the sex industry as well but not as much as in dirt poor nations. You cannot deny that. For the most part girls in The States are all but encouraged to act as slutty as possible and promiscuity is rewarded with money and fame. Or so they lead you to believe. Most young women these days in the First World are so indoctrinated with sex at such a young age that they think very little of it and as a result, think very little of the consequences of their actions until it is too late (Amanda Todd).
But, I digress. The photos aren’t the best quality but I think they tell the story of these young girls’ final moments very clearly.
