The Islamic State has released a video from Diyala Governorate in eastern Iraq. Diyala is quite a ways away from Syria, which means the presence of ISIS is broader that originally thought. Granted, here in Diyala they don’t drive around in Humvees and expensive pick up trucks with flat bed mounted machine guns, but rather in cheaper Toyota low-deck trucks.
The video begins with the images outlining the atrocities of Shia Muslims against the Sunnis. It then shows a column of ISIS trucks driving through the impoverished region. For the most part, the people appear to welcome them, although one truly balsy guy doesn’t, and even though barehanded against people armed with firearms, he picked up a rock and violently threw it at their trucks. Guy must have a death wish.
The end of the video contains graphic images of people who I presume were killed by the Islamic State. The voice that starts to speak at 1:54 is that of the Islamic State Caliph Abu Bakr al Baghdadi. The more I listen to their music, the more it seems to grow on me.
